This 1901 Telegram from the future Richmond Black Rifles General Manager, Hugh Wilmer, appears to confirm that Preston Kirby, the longtime manager of the Richmond Rifles, had some hand in appointing Cooper Fowler to Manager of the Black Rifles, Richmond’s inaugural NLBL franchise.
