About the League

History, Baseball, Storytelling, and Creativity

The LBL is an immersive journey through the baseball eras beginning in 1895. A writing league founded on the spirit of cooperative play, creativity, and love for baseball, Legacy Baseball is unique among OOTP simulation leagues for it’s creative style and ambitious framework.

Originally created in the summer of 2019, the journey began as a cooperative writing project between a handful of OOTP forum members. Over the next two years, an incredible amount of work was poured into hundreds of uniforms & logos, along with data editing, research, and league file testing.

The goal of the LBL is to simulate an alternate baseball journey through the ages.

The style and approach to how we adapt, modify, and grow the league will be different from many OOTP Leagues.

In the LBL, we simulate the changes we want to see through in-game storylines. If you believe the current league rules or settings are unfair, you are expected to bring proposed changes before the Board in Winter Meetings. GMs vote in many decisions and elect their own members to the Board.

If you are a highly competitive league player with no interest in writing, nor tolerance for change, this may not be the league for you.

The fate of baseball is in your hands.

Players will move with history toward collective bargaining and union rights. The Creative Team will wear the hats of both the rowdy, aggressive Player’s Union and the greedy, hard-fisted Owners Association. Failure to comply with Union demands could mean picketing and strikes. Failure to please ownership could mean slashed funds, or worse–termination. Players may be drafted into wartime service or depart, disgruntled, to form leagues of their own.
